Stars on the halftrack??

In the halftrack books I have, many of the war pictures there are no stars on them or just on the hood, none on the back, sides or front. So when were the stars put on? Not on the production line I assume. Mine is a 1941 so where should it have stars or not?

Yours may have had the early “air corps” type stars.

My last M2 had original yellow stars on her. And, they were not perfect drawn out stars. The arms or points would be fatter than others... but seeing other military vehicles that had original yellow stars on them, that is how they were drawn.
