Brake drum life.
« on: April 08, 2014, 05:50:46 PM »
Can't find this in tm 9-710. When is the front and rear brake drum unserviceable?  Whst is the thickness that it can no longer be turned down?  Is there a way to tell or a measurement listed somewhere?

Thanks

Robert

I did find n tm 9-1710c page 141 that the brake drum has a regrinding limit of 0.030 in.  I'm not a real mechanic, can someone explain that to me?

Usually the info is cast into the edge of the drum. You can take it to a brake place and they can tell you if they can turn it or not.

.030 regrind limit means you  can turn it up to.030 over the original size then the drum is oversize.
