transporting, what to prep to move

Hey guys, when transporting your halftrack by flatbed (like on highways), what do you do to get it ready for moving. Lower windshield armor? put the door armor up? lock doors? what about guns, remove or leave on?

Will be using this summer and will need to transport it at times,

Short haul I just load it up, but remove pedestal lights. Long haul I remove windows and go armor up, doors and front window. Never leave guns on or in your track if it is not in your control! Whether dummy or not. My 2 cents!

Remove gas cans, had a buddy take out a mini van with a full water can.

Thats a sure way to keep people from tailgating you-if you have a .50 cal. M2 poking over your back door.
But any type of gun will get the attention of state police and make your trip longer.

I assume you also remove the pioneer tools for transport?

This may be a bit late, but remember you are responsible for anything on your rig that can fall off or become dislodged, when transporting armor down, weapons secured (in travel crates in my case) and any cushions secured whether it be bolted or bungee corded. if you think it can come loose during travel act like it will. I secure the same way whether i am going 5 miles or 500miles.

Windshield armor up, windshield glass removed, door armor down, doors latched, guns stored, camo netting bungied to fenders, front wheels against stops, parking brake on, trans in low gear, seat cushions stored.

when transporting,   stow seat cushions, and remove jerry cans off side as i have had some come loose and fly off.    window armor up.. glass in place.. that way don't bounce around to get broken.  just zip tie the fold point on two of the armor props so they cant drop.     side doors use slide locks..   everything else should be good....

Made a padded box to store and transport windshield glass

If you use short bolts to attach the wind shield port guides to the plate and use a shoulder wing nut to attach the hold open clamp to the plate. When you take the clamp and wing bolt off you can close the windshield armor with the glass in place. So I just close my plate so it doesn't accidentally slam shut as that would probably still break the glass.

PS you also must have the wiper arms off to close the plate.

After 70 years I really don't want to try to remove my windshield glass! I double check all the prop rods and makes the clamp is really tight! The farthest my half-track has gone in the last 30 years is 10 miles!
 As for guns while traveling,isn't that the utmost in open carry?
