Steve,

You should definitely get a campsite next year and bring one of your vehicles.   I had a blast at this year's event.    The convoy to Lodi A&W was a hoot.   I only took a few pictures that I can share but Steve A. had his camera out a lot so I am sure he will post some good shots when he gets back to Oregon.

Driving down Highway 12 with Dennis behind us

Had an M-725 Ambulance in front of us with about 20 more MV's in front of him.  Convoy speed averaged about 35 MPH.

Making a turn.   Stoplights were challenging for the large group.

If you look close you can see  the Huey landing in the background.  Having a real Huey come down and land in the middle of the campground was very exciting.

There was also a Vietnam era patrol boat at the event that was giving rides.

Boats, Helicopters, hundreds of historic military vehicles, they even had a kissing tent.    What more could you ask for  ;)

I'm sure the MP Mutt's that were at TP can give you an escort to TP next year. That would be awesome to see it their. Better yet next year you should host the halftrack meet and greet at your place. You can do a show and tell about your vehicles and then we can hit your piles of parts for sale. ;D

Heck isn't the M-26 street legal? Just put a big fuel tank on the back and drive it! I would imagine it doesn't even get as good gas milage as the half-track do. I would love to see it up close though.

Steve,

You could stop by and pick up my halftrack on your way down.   That would turn some heads on the freeway  :D

i think the organized meetings are not my thing. I'm not sure why but i like the small group back and forth much better.
i definitely wouldn't be interested in doing a show. i find other peoples armor stuff more interesting than mine and usually only talk about my stuff when i know people have more than a general curiosity about it (or i have had to many beers  ;D)

besides you are doing a great job of hosting the meeting.

the pacific is over 10 foot wide even if i remove the rear outer tires so it needs a permit to transport.
top speed is 25 mph
the rear is chain drive

maybe I'm just not as adventurous as i used to be but driving it there doesn't sound to fun  ;D ;D

if i bring it i wouldn't bring the trailer so we would have to set your halftrack on the fifth wheel plate  ;D

I was asked by Tom (RocnTJ) to post some photos of Tower Park this year. I'm now getting around to it. ;D It was a great trip. I was able to go over to Tom's place to give him a hand getting his track ready. He has quite the back shop for smaller fabrication. Once everything was squared away we went for a ride in his track. Tom got shotgun and I think he enjoyed it better than driving. ;D

At Tower Park Tom stayed in my cabin for a few nights then some other club members stayed the last two days due to rain at nights. In all it was fun. The other Tom, Tapper02, showed up and was the driver on the 30+ mile round trip into Lodi A&W. His son Jackson had a great time. He found a way to make the halftrack go faster by adjusting the buttons on the CSR-508 radio set. ;) Dennis followed us in his M3A1 and we followed him on the way back. There were some 40 vehicles in the convoy their including three halftracks. On the way back was a different story. Everyone weas on their own. There was a speed monitoring station and I think we were clocked at 41mph. That's perty good for a first time out in Tom's track. He had no major problems.

We had one unofficial and one official halftrack owner's gatherings. It was mentiond by one owner that went over to Normandy that the tracks that Gary is selling are from BAIV BV International Trading Company. They bought a mold from the Israel's and are making the tracks in house. In addition to the tracks they are making new bogie wheels, sprockets and outside rear ideler halves. Another owner brought up the need for a pulpit. If all goes well with Superjeep, we should have a good quality repo soon. It was sugested that all those who wanted a pulpit should go in for a group buy and to pick them up at TP next year. What do you think?

Next year will be our 5th for the meet and great at Tower Park. If anyone wants to do something special let me know. We could try and put another group of halftracks together and try and beat 7 tracks from last year. Let me know your thoughts.
