I made one to take apart my water pump a few weeks ago. There is a guy with a bunch of machine shop equipment that lives down the road from me. He said I could use his equipment and he would help me set it up. I would post pictures but I am out of town at work will be home middle of next week.I built it out of scrap pieces of metal he had laying around.

The tool is actually fairly easy to make if you have a lathe at your disposal.  I made one out of two pieces of cold rolled bar stock.  First I cut internal threads (I don't remember the thread pitch) in a hollow cylinder, then made an end cap with 1/2 UNF threads for a standard bolt which I welded to the other piece.  The whole project took about an hour to fabricate.  DW

FYI, for future reference. I disassembled my pump without a puller. I removed the pulley and also the 4 bolts and bearing retainer on the pulley side. I also removed the impeller cover, and just simply used my press to push the shaft through the pump body. I've got it all cleaned up now, and have an NOS pump rebuild kit to reinstall. The kit replaces all the parts in the pump FYI.

Darth-

Your method works perfectly!  Read your instructions again and went to the garage and it popped right out.

Thanks,
