does anyone here own an m35 truck

i was on steelsoliders site and found a post about the brakes and the steering knuckle boots. we have found that the steering knuckle boots are the same on the m35 and the halftrack (see- front and rear differentials). what was interesting on this post was that the brake shoes also look similar. anyone have one of these trucks and can tell us how many other parts can interchange?

I have a couple M35s and I can take a look sometime.  I do know that someone said that the break cylinders were the same and that is incorrect, at least for the halftrack's rear breaks.

The front wheel cylinders are the same size used on the M35 and halftrack. The only differance is the brake line connection. I currently have M35 wheel cylinders on the front of our M2, connected to custom brake hoses. The rear wheel cylinders are much larger, possibly the same size used on the 5 ton M54 / M813. I had a set of NOS wheel cylinders that came with a box of M-series parts. They were the same size that was originally on the rear drive axle on the M2. Don't know about the shoes from the M35 / M54 trucks.

The HT brake hoses will not work with the M35 wheel cylinders. The M35 cylinders use a banjo bolt with a brass block, the brass block has an inverted flare. The HT hoses have a tapered pipe thread, I was unable to adapt the HT hoses to the M35 cylinder.

i chased down an m35 truck in sacramento yesterday. he had just bought it and he goes by the name blizzard on steelsoliders. the brake lines on the m35 look shorter than on the halftrack so my idea of using the m35 wheel cyls along with the m35 hoses wont work.

Talking to a friend of mine who was flipping through his manual it sounds like a lot of WW2 US-6 brake and tranny parts are interchangeable with the HT. In his 44 dated manual it has and interchange section that calls out many different parts for the HT.

thats interesting. the only thing i found was the champ forklift uses the same brake shoes, but no one sells parts for those lifts anymore. i did a search for the manual for that truck and its not on any of the free sites, any chance you can scan the page and post it?

You might try this, an old parts guy I knew could order wheel cyl kits or wheel cylinders by using the casting # on the wheel cylinder. YOu need to have a good parts guy-the older the better.

I have posted the kits and cyl numbers. Now im just curious what other parts interchange. On ebay m35. Parts are cheap.

Hey Steve,
Here is how I adapted M35 front wheel cylinders to the HT. The custom brake hose connects on the side through the brass block and banjo bolt. I was unable to adapt a hose that connected directly to the wheel cylinder, yeah, I know its not original.
I was able to find original front and rear brake shoe linings from Rod Shaver (?). Our local NAPA sent the shoes and linings out for assembly, cost around $15 a shoe.

Hi hi guys,

I tried to use an original NOS front axle dust boots, but there was not way they will fit. Was trying to buy some M35
boots from guys on Ebay, but they list "ship only to USA" and did not even reply to my request if ok to ship to US address.

Can any one help me with this?
