Least favorite part of restorations???
« on: January 18, 2020, 12:33:05 PM »
Ok Boys,

I am getting ready to go out and start some sandblasting, and it got me thinking about what my least favorite part of restorations is?  I think it has to be sandblasting for me!  Cleaning caked on dirt and grease might be a close second.  Don’t get me wrong, there are very enjoyable and therapeutic tasks I really like, but sandblasting just sucks!   What does everyone else think?

I don't mind sandblasting.  I have another guy that seems to do it all for me.   ;D

I've had great success wet blasting with a pressure washer. No dust.

On my M38A1....no doubt....body work...ESPECIALLY sanding....and sanding...and more sanding.....
On the half track...…
Probably the entire bogie/suspension system.
Just rusty/stuck/stubborn hard a$$ work.
Of course the clean/sand/prime/paint routine for a bazillion small parts
is pretty "fun" too. ;)

But all this aggravation is great therapy for me.
I absolutely love the sense of satisfaction you get from
working on these mechanical history books and
slowly bringing them back to life!!

Finding cracks in the armor plates after I get them blasted, then painting.
